![]() This is an excellent small resort for families with children under the age of 10. I went back twice to try and rectify this but kept being told that the resort was full and they would try tomorrow. Beware, we booked a superior room and on some websites this meant a balcony. The rooms and common areas are all clean, well-maintained and fairly well finished. The resort, like many others, are used a lot by Mexican nationals at this time of year but I am guessing the clientele changes during high season. Thank you for making our trip that much better! I highly recommend tipping as we did all week although I seen very few others doing so. Have to give a shout out to Carlos and Julio. The best feature of this resort is the staff!! They are excellent. The Samba with its location and beautiful view could be extraordinary but fell way short. They were kind helpful and always pleasant. Its too bad they have to serve terrible food. A plus for our suite that was clean and roomy for our family of five. For dessert they served a dry assortment of petite cakes that Im fairly certain were served at the lunch buffet. Dined at the Italian place worst ribeye steak Ive ever had. Dined at the Mexican restaurant which is actually the day pool bar with fancy tablecloths at night - First night the food was very good - went again two nights later and am certain they served leftovers from the previous nights and our waiter had the personality of a wet rag. The food is marginal at best - inconsistent and nothing I couldnt fix at home. ![]() Needless to say I was a bit disappointed. We knew when booking that the Samba wasnt the fanciest resort.we didnt need fancy or big but wanted good food good service and a relaxing trip to Mexico. To go to Puerto Vallarta is a 20 - 40 minutes ride ($200 pesos one way). ![]() Samba is not located in Puerto Vallarta (Jalisco), rather it is in Nuevo Vallarta (Nayarit). It had only one king size bed, but they provide a cot and it was fine. Our room (third floor) was clean and it had all we need (safe, mini fridge, iron board, balcony, TV, clean towels, etc) it was cleaned daily. There was a variety of food and it was very tasty. Most of the guests were nationals, families with plenty of children. There were always available pool/beach chairs, so I did not have to get up early to reserve them. The sand was a bit rough, and the waves were very strong, they had the red flag all week so we did not swim much, but the pool was perfect. I had an issue with the AC, I called, and within 5 minutes it was resolved! This is a beach front resort you could walk for many miles. They learn your name and preference right away. I guess being a small resort give them the opportunity to pay more attention to each guest. Jose Guadalupe (entertainment), Martin (pool bar), Genaro, Ismael, Louri (restaurant), Claudia (maid), Alex (concierge) to mention some. If budget and good service are important to you then Samba is the place, the people here work their butts off to make your stay very pleasant. Our stay was excellent! If you want a luxurious resort, this is not for you, Samba is a 4 star SMALL resort. When you decide, have a good trip. After reading a number of reviews I was a bit concerned, since there were complains about cockroaches, bird poop, smells, and noise. Otherwise, it gets confusing for people who are wanting to help you. What type of vacation are you and your wife trying to plan? Can you focus in on what you want - and then put the same question out on all forums, mentioning all your choices. Re your question on Tesoro in Cabo.I wouldn't stay there again myself. I've stayed at the Tesoro in Cabo - and next door to the Krystal Grand in Nuevo - but still can't figure out exactly what you are looking for and why you're picking those specific places.Ĭan you fill us in a bit more - as to what your vacation plans are and when you are planning to go? It would help us help you. We can tell you're doing research for your vacation, with all your options on various forums, but you haven't said when you plan to travel, or mentioned more of your specific vacation goals. You didn't ask on the Nuevo Vallarta Forum, where Samba and Krystal Grand are located. In the past few days, you've posted a similar/same question on the Mexico forum (re either Cancun or Puerto Vallarta), the Cabo forum and the Bucerias and Puerto Vallarta forums.
